Firstly, when I started playing I had a locked camera view. Initially, with the locked view I was able to learn the controls quickly without handling the camera view.

How to Unlock Your Camera in League of Legends: Keyboard Hotkeys
There are a lot of keyboard hotkeys that you can use in LoL for a variety of functions.
With the Y & Z keys on your keyboard, you can easily switch the camera view. This includes unlocking and locking it.
If for any reason you’re not comfortable using these keys then you can always change them in the settings. For instance, I changed the camera view keys from Y or Z to P. You can do something similar as well.
Here’s how you can do that:
- Click on the ‘Settings’ button located on the top right.
- From there, go to ‘Hot Keys’.
- After that, click on ‘Camera Control’
- And then ‘Toggle Camera Lock’
- Unbind the key and then add another one of your choices.

Another thing that you can do to unlock your camera in League of Legends is to use the camera icon.
The camera icon is located at the bottom of your screen, click on it and toggle the locked view so that it turns off. Thus, leaving you with an unlocked camera view.

Here’s my opinion about locked and unlocked camera views, since I’ve used both of these:
“I find locked camera view to be helpful when it comes to mapping awareness and vision control. However, it can be a disadvantage when trying to accurately select targets and make single-cast spell selections.
On the other hand, an unlocked camera view provides better vision while in the lane, making it easier to keep track of the minion wave and enemy laner. It also enables the use of champions with global ultimates and long-ranged champions, which can be game-changing.”
